Back from the boat show and reading BB. Your comments in Jan BB page 15 about the knots not being grannies was correct, however the actual knots, by not having the working ends defined could just as well be Thief knots as Reef knots.

And by the way, the rope they were modelled on was 4-strand; something still quite common in Europe, but extremely rare to the degree of almost being non-existent in the UK.

Can we read anything into this?
