Cheetah’s Ventnor plans approved
01 Feb 2007
After four years of discussion with Isle of Wight council planners, Cheetah Marine’s revised plans to build a new marine unit on the east side of the pumping station on Ventnor Esplanade have finally been approved.
According to a report in the Isle of Wight County Press, one councillor claimed Cheetah Marine could do for Ventnor what Sunseeker has done for Poole.
Support for Cheetah’s revised plans marks a dramatic about-turn after councillors voted against the application in October, but voted in favour in January.
‘It is a very nice new design. These people are internationally recognised and are a big employer in Ventnor,’ said Cllr Jonathan Fitzgerald-Bond. ‘If they can do for Ventnor what Sunseeker did in Poole, then good luck to them.’
