‘We looked at the factors that stop retailers entering the e-commerce market,’ said Rob Wallace, ‘namely costs, lack of time and knowledge and the on-going development of their sites. Then we set out to eliminate, or greatly reduce, them.’

In addition to a professional looking site that the retailer can adapt, Hanson Park provides a site that is pre-loaded with the products of key suppliers – Navimo, Unipart Marine, Marathon Leisure, Gill, Henri-Lloyd and Musto. E C Smith, Ocean Safety and Nauticalia are expected to join soon.

The retailer can make alterations to their own site through a secure area to change things like categories and text. They can also download product data from key suppliers to update their site professionally in minutes rather than days.

The system automatically updates suppliers’ list prices and new products and services are also automatically uploaded.

And the cost? Hanson Park works in partnership with its clients, providing the online systems in return for a small set up fee of £2,500 and a 5% commission on transactions. The commission reduces with increased turnover.

From design stage, bank/PSP set-up and integration to the completed site with products in place is about four weeks. Hanson Park will also help with the secure banking and online payment provider, such as SecPay.
