Falmouth up for award
01 Feb 2007
The traditional boatbuilding course at Falmouth Marine School has been shortlisted for a national award, writes Katina Read.
The school, which is part of Cornwall College, offers specialist training with access to dedicated workshops and says the majority of boatbuilding courses are carried out in a practical way.
Each year students build a clinker dinghy, tackle a number of restoration projects and also build two 22ft traditional Cornish workboats which are then sold.
The course was shortlisted for the 2006-2007 Beacon Edge Award for practical teaching and learning.
