Speaking to the FT, Sunseeker's founder and CEO Robert Braithwaite said the boatbuilder needed to increase its profitability and wanted operating earnings to rise to £12m (from £5.2m in 2006). The boatbuilder is predicting sales of £235m for 2007, up from £202.4m last year.

With demand for larger boats increasing and Sunseeker's increasingly cramped Poole facilities close to capacity, further expansion will be vital to the boatbuilder's growth prospects. Braithwaite told the FT he had looked around the world for new production sites but could not find anything better than its Poole location, despite the region's high costs.
