£1m powerboat for rich pockets

The £1m XSR48 powerboat was launched in Lymington by Prince Michael of Kent and developed to suit the tastes and the pockets of the world's richest by Lymington-based XSMG Marine, writes Iain Sutherland.

XSMG says it combines the DNA and high performance of a supercar with superyacht styling to create the ‘world's first true superboat’. The XSR48 is capable of speeds of up to 110 mph and only 100 will be made.

The boat was built at Lymington's Berthon boatyard in partnership with local companies, such as Green Marine and award-winning superyacht designers Redman Whiteley Dixon of Beaulieu.
