Hood operation franchised to Kemp

Hood Sailmakers has closed its Lymington loft in Bath Road and has franchised the Hood operation to Kemp Sails in Wareham, writes Iain Sutherland.
The two brands will be operated alongside each other and the alliance will enable the brands to share common administrative and production resources in the UK, whilst maintaining the brand’s identities.
‘The overhead structure in Hood Sail’s Lymington loft has become less and less commercially viable in recent years,’ said Tim Woodhouse, president of Hood Sails. ‘We have, with Kemp Sails, a partner able to continue with the Hood Sails brand in a more commercially competitive structure.’
Kemp Sails recently employed Mark Woodford, formerly Hood's Lymington based production manager and sail designer of over 20 years.
