Caffari learned of her MBE for services to sailing as she stepped ashore after sailing the Calais Round Britain and Ireland Race.

‘I am delighted and stunned to have been granted this honour and am greatly looking forward to visiting the palace later this year to collect my award from Her Majesty The Queen,’ she said. ‘I hope I have inspired others to seize every opportunity and achieve their personal goals.’

Fifteen years after being awarded his MBE for Sunseeker’s export efforts, Braithwaite was made a CBE in the recent Birthday Honours.

The CBE is one below a knight, one above an OBE and two above an MBE in the pecking order, making Braithwaite top of the leisure marine industry pile at present.

His latest award was made for services to business and charity in Poole, Dorset.
