E.ON to sponsor Offshore Challenges
05 Jun 2007
The new support sponsor is E.ON, the company that runs Powergen and E.ON Energy. MacArthur will work closely with the company’s B2B division to promote sustainability and energy efficiency.
‘E.ON is a massive player in the energy industry,’ said MacArthur. ‘A racing sailor must complete their voyage in a self-sufficient way. You save everything, you economise everywhere. I am keen to know how we can all take practical steps to be more energy efficient in everyday life, especially in my own business.’
The title sponsorship announcement from Offshore Challenges at the end of July looks set to coincide with the completion of the company’s new IMOCA Open 60 which is being built in Cowes. The new boat will compete in the new double-handed Barcelona World Race and will be sailed by Brian Thompson and Guillermo Altadill.
Offshore Challenges says its new title partner shares the team's ambition to perform in the IMOCA Ocean Racing World Championship, with a focus on winning the 2008/09 solo Vendée Globe.
