Gweek Quay boatyard appeal

Clive Emerson, owner of the Gweek Quay boatyard, has lodged
an appeal against Kerrier district council’s refusal of planning permission.
Material has long been tipped at the boatyard, creating an eyesore and angering locals, who welcomed the council’s decision.
Kerrier Council refused to grant Emerson planning permission for the continued use of land as an extension of Gweek Quay boatyard. Emerson’s appeal is likely to result in a public enquiry being held, at which the full extent of local feelings will be vented.
This is the latest twist in a long-running dispute over material tipped at the boatyard without authorisation and whether the resulting extensions to the premises should be removed.
