Sutton hosts 2nd Classic Boat Rally
01 Jul 2007
Sutton Harbour is to host the Plymouth Classic Boat Rally for the second time, writes Katina Read.
The Sutton Harbour Group is the main sponsor of the event, now in its 20th year, which features five days of display sailing and racing from July 27 to 31.
As many as 100 classic boats are expected, including racing yachts, 100-year-old West Country working boats, former trawlers and replicas of classic designs.
This year for the first time, there will be boats from Germany and Brittany. Another highlight will be a 102-year-old Bristol Channel pilot cutter.
Racing in the sound will start on July 29 - the fleet will sail to Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club on July 30 for afternoon racing and a traditional Cornish evening and on July 31 the fleet will cruise to Fowey for further racing and a prize-giving.
