Westcountry Marine goes west

Boat sales and brokerage company, Westcountry Marine has gone into voluntary liquidation after building up losses of around £410,000, writes Katina Read.

The company, which operated from the Queen Anne Battery in Plymouth, ceased trading in April after starting to experience difficulties during 2006.

The firm was established in 2003 and held dealerships for several boatbuilders and developed a range of new and used power and sail boats. Increased marketing costs and cash flow problems have contributed to the difficulties.

Ian Walker, partner at insolvency and business recovery specialist firm, Begbies Traynor, has been appointed liquidator.
