Blakes Glide Speed
01 Feb 2007
Glide Speed is the latest antifouling from Blakes Paints. It is, they say, an exceptionally effective hard antifouling is particularly suitable for high performance power craft and racing yachts.
Using an innovative formulation, Glide Speed contains TecCel which has been developed by Blakes for its most advanced performance coatings.
TecCel contains a balanced combination of active biocides and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), both of which inhibit growth. With Glide Speed a super slip smooth finish is achieved that reduces friction and improves the speed and performance of craft. Suitable for cold or warm waters, it offers protection throughout the season.
Glide Speed is also very user-friendly to apply with flexible re-coating times. At 20ºC/68ºF it is touch dry in just four hours and can be re-coated in five hours allowing a hull to be completed in a day.
At 10ºC/50ºF it is touch dry in eight hours and can be re-coated in nine hours. Whatever the temperature, there is no maximum re-coating time and the boat can be launched within three months of application.
Glide Speed can be applied over all Blakes’ and other leading manufacturers’ antifouling providing the surface is properly prepared. It is suitable for glass fibre, wood, plywood, steel or ferro-cement hulls.
Colours available are white, dark blue or red and Glide Speed comes in 2.5 litre cans
