Transom-mounted water jet system

Looking like the top end of a conventional outboard, Fleetwater Marine’s US-built JetPac Outboard Jet Propulsion System is a completely self-contained marine jet propulsion system.

Powered by either a 150hp or a 200hp 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine or a 275hp petrol engine, the unit has a large diameter water jet that offers, they say, high thrust, quieter and more efficient performance than current jet propulsion systems.

It’s designed to suit all sizes and styles of vessel and RIBS whether commercial, military, pleasure boat or yacht tender.

Fleetwater offers a testimonial from Tim Fleming of Zodiac USA Military and Professional Marine Sector, who says: ‘I have tried the JetPac on two different boats so far and on each I was impressed with the ease in which the boat got out of the hole even with heavy loads. The directional manoeuvrability is outstanding for a water jet even at low speeds.’

They say installation is quick and easy and requires no structural modifcations, even with the unit on show at BBEx weighing in at around half a ton. It also offers low purchase and installation cost compared to conventional jet drive systems.
