The company submitted plans to develop an area of the current car park next to the children’s Isle of Wight Paddling Pool. The building has been designed to become an attractive feature of the Haven development whilst ensuring it is functional for a variety of purposes.

Architect, Andrew Hitt designed the western elevation with a stylish yacht club feel in mind. The building will be finished in a similar style and of similar materials to the recently completed fishery in the Haven, also designed by Hitt.

The development will include a café/bistro, offices for Ventnor Haven Harbour and Cheetah Marine Office and a chandlery. At the eastern end of the development will be boat workshops.

‘We have been working very hard towards this project for a number of years,’ said Cheetah’s Sean Strevens. ‘After consulting widely with the wishes and requirements of Island Authorities, Councillors and local people, we have arrived at a design which will be complementary to the seafront and the Island as a whole.’

Cheetah has received considerable support from local people, he added, and we hope to provide a facility which will ensure the successful operation of the haven well into the future.
