Action for Scotland's boating environment

The Green Blue, the British Marine Federation (BMF) and RYA's environmental awareness initiative, is holding three one day seminars around Scotland during October, writes Mike Balmforth.

These events are aimed at water users, the clubs they belong to, and boating businesses and will deal with all today's complex environmental problems and how to deal with them within current Scottish and British legislation.

The all-day events, which are funded by Scottish Natural Heritage, will be held at Largs (October 16), Inverness (October 23) and Edinburgh (October 29) and the cost is £20, which includes lunch.

The morning programme is primarily for marine businesses, whilst the afternoon session addresses user and yacht club issues. Delegates are, of course, welcome to attend both.

Topics range from water quality to waste disposal, including how to make money from waste, and from marine renewable energy to recycling. Discussion sessions will ensure that delegates’ individual issues will be dealt with by the expert panel.

All boating enthusiasts and professionals are welcome to these first events of the newly formed Green Blue Scotland. Full details from 02380 604100 or by emailing info@thegreenblue.org.uk
