UK firm wins US export order

SOUTH COAST: Run from a shop in Westbourne, 1st4Boats, the UK distributor of the American manufactured Fountain powerboats, received an award at Cowes from the US government for export achievement in selling the Fountain over here, writes Iain Sutherland.

And at the latest rounds of the P1 World Powerboat Championships the Fountain Powerboat King of Shaves, piloted by Craig Wilson, took two second places to remain on course for the world title in the evolution class.

Ben Matley, who only started his company five years ago, said he was ‘absolutely delighted’ with a superb weekend for 1st4Boats. ‘We have come a long way in a short time and that's a huge tribute to the whole team,’ he told us. ‘It's a real privilege to be working with the world leader in power and leisure boats. Fountain is a great company.’

The founder and chief executive of Fountain Worldwide, Reggie Fountain, flew in from North Carolina to watch his boat in rounds seven and eight of the P1 series and to pay tribute to 1st4Boats, which also provided the start boat for the races.
