BB understands the man behind Opal Marine is Alan English, who is big in the conferencing world, while Richard Hewitt, Matthew Attree and Johnny Cochran - all ex-Peters~Opal men - are behind Clipper Marine.

Opal Marine is based in Chichester Marina and is currently being run by interim MD, Andrea Wadsley, an ex-Peters~Opal employee.

In a press release, KPMG described Opal Marine Limited as 'a substantially backed British owned company'. KPMG said the new company had 'purchased the business and assets of BA Peters plc boat sales and brokerage business from its Administrators, KPMG'.

The purchase, says KPMG, saves 30 jobs and Opal Marine will be taking on new staff to further strengthen its team.

The statement said Opal Marine remains headquartered at Chichester Marina and continues to enjoy ongoing representation with leading brands including Azimut, Rodman and Legend.

In another B A Peters administration move, new company Clipper Marine is to become the UK dealer for Bavaria Yachts. The three managing directors are Richard Hewett, Matthew Attree and Johnny Cochran. All are all former managers at Peters~Opal.

The new Opal Marine and Clipper Marine will both be at the Southampton Boat Show.
