Boatcoat opens Dutch warehouse

SOUTH WEST: Based in Plymouth and supplying shrinkwrap boat covers, Boatcoat has opened a new warehouse in Neijmegen, in the Netherlands, writes Katina Read.

The new warehouse will provide boatbuilders and dealers with a better delivery service than is currently achievable from the UK, together with shipping costs reduced by around a quarter.

The company, which achieved ISO9001:2000 status in 2006, has doubled its turnover in Europe since 2004 by training boatbuilders and dealers how to market and install the covers.

The company says the shrinkwrap covers are an improvement on tarpaulins and other loose covers which may flap and cause damage. The shrinkwrap covers are made using a heavy duty white plastic film which is heat shrunk onto the boat using a hand held hot air gun to create a fitted cover.

Weatherproof vents eliminate any trapped moisture and zipped access doors allow access to the boat. The covers are fully recyclable.
