New dry sail facility for Plymouth

SOUTH WEST: Plymouth marine firm Yacht Haven is to construct a new boat storage building on the edge of Plymstock, writes Katina read.

Planning permission has been granted for the new building which will provide purpose built indoor dry boat storage, together with a facilities building, marine, industrial and office units and car park.

As part of the plans, Yacht Haven will have to pay for a new pedestrian and cycle link along the side of the site - an extension and rerouting of the South West Coast Path.

Yacht Haven Quay started out in 2004 as an extension to the storage facilities of Plymouth Yacht Haven. The new building will be 17m high and boats up to 10m or five tonnes will be stacked four high.

Owners have unlimited launch and recovery facilities – just an hour’s notice is needed for the boat to be in the water, fuelled up and ready to sail. The new development will help to alleviate some of Plymouth’s berth shortages.
