The new units provide advanced chart plotting, engine and fuel data, alongside all the allied information that can be found on compatible C-Map MAX electronic charts: they can also easily be upgraded to provide depth, speed, temperature and radar information as well.
An echosounder is built in to both versions that will match its power to the connected transducer, and there is a choice of compatible radar processors and arrays. In short, they have been designed with an eye to the future and flexibility of integration with other Simrad products like the A150 AIS.
Aimed at recreational boats over 25ft, the NX40 has a high resolution, 8.4" daylight viewable colour display while the NX45's screen measures 12.1".
