Don't go floating your CDs
01 Apr 2008
You can keep your favourite albums on the JBL Black Box’s hard drive (which has room for around 20 albums) and take your latest downloads aboard in a handy iPod or USB flash drive.
Adding, swapping or deleting tracks is done by pressing a couple of buttons, and tracks from CDs can be copied via your home computer and transferred using a USB flash drive.
The box or ‘brains’ of the system is designed to be fitted out of sight in an area protected from the water – operation is via a remote control, so watertight that it can withstand submersion.
The Black Box is housed in a rust-proof, splash-resistant casing with circuit boards encapsulated in a newly developed PUC moisture coating, which dramatically improves reliability.
The unit also includes an AM/FM tuner, for picking up the inshore waters forecast, as well as local and national radio channels. And for those who can’t bear to part with their CDs, the Black Box also includes the software to control a CD changer.
The JBL Black Box retails for about £349.95 including VAT.
