Dragons' Den device goes transatlantic

Waterbuoy - an innovative automatic floatation device that will recover your mobile phone, keys, handheld GPS receiver or anything else that you drop overboard - is making waves on both sides of the Atlantic following a very successful encounter on the hit TV show Dragons’ Den.

At the BBEx show in Bournemouth, James Halliburton, CEO of Seatriever International, was handed the ‘Dyer Burdett Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ by a panel of boating industry experts.

'I’m thrilled to be receiving this award,' says Halliburton. 'Waterbuoy has taken over my life for the last three years but it’s all been worthwhile. There are moments when you wonder what on earth you are getting yourself into, but it’s always reassuring when the final product makes such a good impression in the target market.'

In the February issue of the US Sail magazine the editorial team announced its annual ‘Freeman K. Pittman Innovation Awards’, recognizing the best gear-related thinking within the marine market. This year only 16 new products were highlighted and Waterbuoy was selected for a coveted place in the awards’ cruising category.
