Radios with buddy tracking

Lowrance has rolled out an all-new line of marine VHF radios, and leading the programme are the fixed mount LVR-880 and LVR-250 models.

The new LVR-880 is the first fixed mount DSC-equipped to offer dual VHF and FM capabilities with built-in waypoint navigation and MOB tracking.

The VHF also integrates NMEA-2000 with Class D DSC for distress and 'buddy-tracking' features when connected to a compatible Lowrance GPS chartplotter.

This 'buddy-tracking' uses DSC position polling to locate up to three pre-set Lowrance LCX, LMS or GlobalMap modules that are also connected up to an LVR unit - showing their GPS positions. This is a valuable safety aid in the event of poor visibility or passage after dark.

The radio also includes an intercom facility, a 22W hailer horn, and an extra large segmented display with backlighting. The 880 model is compatible with all international marine channels, features NOAA tone alerts and country by country weather alerts.

For those with economy on their minds, the 250 model delivers many of the same features - minus a few - for a lower price.
