The new regatta replaces the Bay’s existing regattas – Royal Torbay, Brixham, Babbacombe and Paignton and is the first time all four clubs have worked together.

Around 200 dinghies and up to 100 cruisers are expected to take part in the event which takes place from August 22nd to 27th and will include a three-day championship for all classes and a two day Admiral’s Cup team event.

Organisation of the event is being undertaken by a management team comprising representatives from the Babbacombe, Brixham, Paignton and Royal Torbay clubs as well as the Torbay Development Agency.

The team on the day of the agreement included Tim Whitehead, who will be the Torbay Week director, David Selley and Bill Butcher, from Royal Torbay Yacht Club, Alan Haynes, of Brixham Yacht Club, Roger Gater, of Paignton Sailing Club, Gary Bolton, Dale Bradbury and Graham Hunt from BMW Ocean, Aviva Pearson of Torbay Development Agency and Capt Kevin Mowat, the Torbay Harbour Master.
