Rimmers: no police action at present

CHALLENGER: With persistent rumours flying around that Ed and Gill Rimmer had fled the UK for either France or Switzerland with £2m in their pockets, BB spoke to Geoff Dover, the civilian police officer handling the case at West Mercia Police.

As far as Dover is concerned, he's heard all the rumours, but assured BB both Ed and Gill Rimmer were in the UK two weeks ago and he had no reason to believe they had disappeared since.

Dover added that administrators Begbies Traynor had requested the police should not investigate the Rimmers.

'Begbies Traynor is still gathering information,' Dover told BB, 'and will report to the DTI, hopefully in April. If the DTI decides further action is necessary, it would be undertaken by solicitors appointed by the DTI.'

BB repeats the suggestion made in its NewsUpdate of February 19: 'If Ed or Gill Rimmer reads this, could they get in touch to confirm or deny the various allegations being made about them?'

We got no response first time we asked, but never let it be said that BB doesn't try very hard to bring you both sides of a story.
