Steering the Business

EVENT: The yacht racing business has come of age - says Informa Yacht Group, the organisers of the World Yacht Racing Forum.

They point out that sailing sponsorship is now ranked third highest in Europe, coming just after football and motorsports - and that it projects an environmentally ‘green’ identity, a concern in today's business climate.

The event, which is going to take place on the 10th and 11th December at the Grimaldi Centre in Monaco, is focussing on making water-related activities commercially viable - and sustainable, at least in the business sense.

The First Sailing Industry debate aims to cover key issues, under headings such as: 'Selecting Olympic Classes for Maximum Televisual Impact', 'Regeneration of Coastal Areas through Marine Tourism', 'Key Factors for a Successful Commercial Regatta', and 'Opportunities for Sailing in Emerging Countries'.

In case you were wondering there is also a debate scheduled on the future of the America's Cup and one on sailing communications technology as well.

The World Yacht Racing Awards will be a main feature of the evening activities in Monaco. Categories encompass a cross-section of interests, from best sailing regattas to outstanding achievements, and include technology, photography and even a sponsorship award.
