Try boating at The Motor Show

This year's British International Motor Show at ExCeL will see boats forming a large part of the event as National Boat Shows (NBS) organises the Marine Experience with a wide variety of craft for visitors to see and try.

The bi-annual Motor Show expects to attract over 550,000 visitors to the 2008 show, something over 25% up on the 2006 attendance of 415,000. The '06 show visitor survey said 85% of them would visit again in 2008 and 90% said that they would recommend the show to friends.

Companies that want to attend the Motor Show as part of the Marine Experience can choose from two marina opportunities. The Ultimate Fleet Marina will be a collection of luxury yachts over 20m overlooking the Heritage Enclosure, which will showcase the history of the supercar over the past 50 years;

The Marine Experience Marina, located on the existing dock edge where the usual LBS marina can be found, will have around 70 berths for a range of craft from PWCs, dinghies and inflatables to sail and power boats up to 20m loa. The effect, says NBS, will be to ensure the visitor experiences all boating has to offer.

NBS says demand has already proved high for berths and is allocating on a first come, first serve basis.

The Marine Experience isn't just showing boats to people: NBS is running a Try-a-Boat feature at the show allowing visitors to get out on the water for free. The Royal Victoria Dock will also play host to a number of on-water activities during the course of the show, from high speed demonstrations to live racing action.
