New men at the top of BMF and NBS

TOP CHAPS: Jon Eads and Paul Strzelecki assumed the respective roles of president of the British Marine Federation (BMF) and chairman of National Boat Shows (NBS) on 1 July 2008.
Mr Eads CMM is managing director of MDL’s Marina Division, responsible for all of the company's mooring, retail and boatyard operations.

He's been involved in the marine industry for 30 years and has always taken an active role, having previously been chairman of both the BMF Wessex regional committee and the BMF Environment and Boating Facilities Committee. With a passion for all things to do with boating, Mr Eads is a keen sailor and enjoys spending time afloat with his family in Poole Harbour.

After being handed the presidency of the BMF by outgoing president Peter Methven Mr Eads commented: 'Peter Methven has been an invaluable president and will be a tough act to follow, but I look forward to working with the BMF executive to continue the excellent work that takes place to ensure an invaluable service to its members and the marine industry.'

Mr Strzelecki has worked in the marine industry for over 25 years and, as joint chief executive of Henri Lloyd, is responsible for international business, product design and the marketing of the brand in the marine and fashion markets worldwide.

A keen sailor who jointly set up the BMF group association British Sailing and was its first chairman, Mr Strzelecki is also an executive member of the International Sailing Summit and was previously chairman of the BMF’s Marketing Strategy Group.

In taking over as NBS chairman from Alan Morgan, Mr Strzelecki said: 'I am looking forward to continuing the great work that’s been done over the past two years by Alan Morgan, alongside NBS managing director Andrew Williams and the NBS team.'

The industry’s two vital boat shows – London and Southampton - are excellent showcases for the industry and I hope that working with the team we can continue to make them as successful as possible, he added.

In thanking Peter Methven and Alan Morgan, BMF chief executive Rob Stevens said: 'Peter and Alan have had an extraordinarily successful time as BMF president and NBS chairman. Their unfailing commitment to the wellbeing of the BMF has been the cornerstone of our recent successes.'
