Boost for Clyde business booster
01 Aug 2008
Sail Clyde, a business development strategy designed to boost expansion of the marine leisure industry and improve facilities for recreational boating in the Firth of Clyde, has come about through a partnership between the Scottish recreational boating industry and the public sector.
Sail Clyde will facilitate access to business development bodies, and aims to double the number of yachts and motor cruisers on the Clyde in the next decade, and significantly increase marine tourism and marine business of all kinds.
This will be achieved through promoting and marketing the Clyde as an international sailing events venue, encouraging the area's industry, including marinas, and improvement of destinations both within the Firth of Clyde and the staging ports in it's southern approaches.
The initiative from the industry side includes BMF Scotland, Yachting Life magazine, Troon, Ardrossan and Kip Marinas, all of which recognise that lack of permanent berths and destination infrastucture will increasingly stifle business growth.
