Sea lock failure on Crinan Canal

SCOTLAND: The Crinan Canal is closed to through traffic after the cill on the sea lock failed over the weekend, according to a report on the BBC Scotland website.

British Waterways Scotland said divers carried out an inspection on Monday and the sea lock would be closed until further notice.
The BBC Scotland news website says it understands the concrete cill gave way on Sunday afternoon, 20 July. The lock, which dates back to the 1930s, allows boats to transit into Loch Crinan.
