Cowes breakwater a step closer
01 Jan 2008
SOUTH COAST: Ambitious plans to build an outer breakwater off Cowes have taken a step forward with a presentation by Cowes Harbour Commissioners (CHC) and South East England Development Association (SEEDA), writes Iain Sutherland.
Work on the scheme which would include a 300-350 berth marina on the eastern side of Cowes harbour could begin as soon as 2009.
CHC chairman Jeremy Preston said the £12m project would maximise the potential usability of the harbour, providing additional yachting and evening facilities.
