CSLBS: main stage creates focal point

LONDON BOAT SHOW: Marketing for the Collins Stewart London Boat Show (CSLBS) is now pushing ahead and the show organiser, National Boat Shows (NBS), has unveiled its plans for the focal point of the show; the main stage in the North Hall.
The Fairline-powered main stage should be a crowd-puller

The stage, described here as ‘powered by Fairline’, will be packed full of spectacles and events that NBS says are sure to capture the imagination of visitors.

Situated right in the centre of the North Hall, the stage will see the presentation of what is described as ‘the dazzling Sea Queen Stage Show’. This is an aerial spectacular that promises to ‘transform the main stage into a stunning sea of blue and green’.

The show will be performed by a host of energetic circus dancers and stilt-walkers dressed as sea creatures who will perform acrobatics and ‘acro-balance along to an uplifting musical score’.

These PR people do go over the top a bit, don’t they? How do people ‘acro-balance’ And what is ‘an uplifting musical score’ when it’s at home?

The stage show will alternate between the Sea Queen performance and a catwalk show featuring big name popular clothing brands such as Fat Face, Musto, Gill, Henri Lloyd and Figleaves.com

The spotlight will then turn to boating legends Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Geoff Holt, Adrian Flanagan and Mike Golding who will take to the main stage to share stories of their adventures at sea. Everyday heroes will also be celebrated with representatives from the Port of London Authority (PLA) and the Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA) who will share what a typical day in their lives is like in the ‘Life as a…’ feature.

And Boat Review 2007 is a montage of the boating year that will be projected on the big screen on the main stage. Boat Review 2007 takes the viewer on a ride through the year, as seen by the boating world. Footage will relive the highs as well as the lows; the excitement, the drama at sea and the awards our sailing heroes have won and lost.

It sounds as if NBS is – at long last - emphasising the hitherto absent ‘show’ bit of the Collins Stewart London Boat show at ExCeL.
