Rowing handle combats tendonitis

SOUTH WEST: A new design for an ergonomic rowing handle has been patented in five countries, writes Katina Read.
The new rowing handle has been designed by amateur rower, Emily Webb who has been nominated for the Welsh Woman of the Year award and Young Enterprise Wales Young Achiever award.
The Webbway has been designed to minimise the strain on rowers’ wrists and has already won two gold awards at the British Inventions Show in London.
Featuring an integral mechanism which enables rowers to turn the blade, the handle reduces the danger of tendonitis or repetitive strain injury.
The invention is being used as a working prototype and is being tested by the Welsh junior squad.
