Westpoint Marine to build in UK

SOUTH WEST: Westport Marine could switch production from Eastern Europe to Plymouth if its business continues to expand, writes Katina Read.
The boatbuilding business was founded by Charles Broughton around a year ago and has so far made 60 craft.
The first boat to be built was the Pilot 4 – a 13ft fibreglass boat followed by the 17ft Pilot 6. Westpoint Marine currently has dealers across Europe and has plans for two new models – 15ft and 24ft.
The company says production volumes are set to continue increasing and the company is on target to support the extra costs associated with a factory in the UK.
