Programmable gauges from Point Distribution
01 Jul 2008
The Universal gauges can be configured to any one of 10 different functions whilst dedicated gauges perform a single function. The configuration includes choosing the gauge display characteristic, a choice of the more common sender/sensor and in some cases preset alarm functions.
All this is accessible via an interface unit and PC Windows based program. Once programmed the intelligent gauge saves these settings.
Gauge features include:
a) Front or rear panel mounting
b) No moving parts
c) Choice of market leading senders
d) Both visual and audible alarm functions
e) Analogue and digital readout in the same display
f) Watertight to IP67
g) Connectors are sealed and lock in place
h) Consistent appearance
i ) One gauge – multiple functions
j) Once installed device can be reprogrammed
k) Current consumption is about half that of a conventionally illuminated gauge
l) 2 year warranty.
Gauges can be mounted into a 49mm hole either conventionally from the front or if you need a flush instrument from the rear of the panel.
The benefits of using these gauges include:
Aesthetically pleasing appearance – creating a consistent gauge style, and with the ability to mount from both the front and rear of an instrument panel, ensures all styles and configurations are catered for with the same gauge.
Ease of use – since the gauges provide both digital and analogue readout, simultaneously, there is no ambiguity about the reading. With preset visual and audible alarms on many gauges, fault conditions are quickly flagged to the user.
Ease of installation – gauges can be user programmed from a PC via a simple interface and free software. For Universal gauges, stock holding can be reduced since one universal gauge can deliver 10 different functions. The programming is quick and allows choice of not only the display but also selection of the sender used with the gauge. The wiring is simplified and audible alarms can be consolidated to one sounder.
Robust installations – are achieved when installed in accordance with the manufacturers guidance and each gauge can be sealed to IP67. Connectors lock in place eliminating issues associated with any vibration. The current consumption is significantly less than a conventional gauge when illuminated and there are no moving parts to fail.
