Boating goes to the Motor Show

She's had her little problems on her way around the world - recently destroying the port drive shaft, P bracket and maybe a gearbox - but is currently running some 13 days ahead of the record set by Cable & Wireless Adventurer in 1998.
Earthrace is running on biodiesel which, BB is assured, has now been developed a long way past taking corn out of children's mouths and is now using stuff like plant waste and even algae that have two and three times the energy yield of corn and that are not far from the energy in/energy out ratio of petroleum. So there. Aside from Earthrace, the Marine Experience promises to thrill, excite and entertain (it says here) with some stunning on-water displays to complement the line up of boats on the marina.
The entertainment will include racing powerboats to Viper Jet Boats, alongside head to head racing including Thundercats, Jet Skis, Offshore Circuit Race Boats (OCR’s), Wakeboarding, and RIBs
The third leg of the National Thundercats Championship runs on the first weekend. These boats reach extreme speeds and run on a circuit with lots of twists and turns to add excitement.
The newly designed Viper Jet Boat has a top speed of 60 mph and the Hustler P1 Race Boat, F1 Circuit Boat and an Offshore Circuit Race Boat will also be making a lot of noise and spray. They are not, we are assured, for the faint-hearted...
For those of a calmer disposition, there's Try-a-Boat, and the OnBoard programme encourages children aged 8 to 16 to climb on board a dinghy.
The Marine Experience at the British International Motor Show sponsored by Zurich Connect anticipates attracting over half a million people over a two week duration. With over 600 cars, 60 car marquees, plenty of global premieres and interactive features, the show promises to be an exciting event.
