Plymouth gets dry storage
01 Jul 2008
Work will be carried out by Midas Construction for the Yacht Havens Group and the development plans also include seven industrial units, six offices, three large boatsheds, each capable of holding a 55ft yacht.
The 6,000sq ft dry storage unit will include a 25m high steel structure housing three storeys of dry storage racking. It will be protected from fire by a specialist sprinkler system linked to its own water supply tank and the sea wall will also be raised.
The development will have 250 indoor storage berths for motorboats up to five tonnes and 40ft long and will be an alternative to marina berthing.
Owners will be able to launch their boats seven days a week at less than two hours notice. Yacht Havens already has more than 70 dry berth customers already.
