RIBA to host debate on the future of Lake Windermere
02 Jun 2008
Run in conjunction with the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA), the Building Futures Game presents what RIBA calls 'an accessible and innovative new approach to tackling the big issues involved in town planning and development'.
The event aims to bring together a range of local and regional stakeholders to consider the future of the tourist and economic hub at Windermere, utilising an innovative planning tool developed by Building Futures.
Through playing out the processes and applications of the toolkit, stakeholders will have the opportunity to think strategically and map out their visions for the Windermere area over the next 10 years and build consensus on shared aspirations.
Launched in January 2008, the Building Futures Game is a form of scenario planning where participants work through a lively and interactive process of 'playing out' a range of possible futures, generating a number of possible resolutions.
Working through this process, participants are given a chance to really get to grips with the fundamental issues affecting town planning in their towns and cities.
BB will be very interested to hear if there's any mention of bringing motorboats and waterskiing back to the lake... Anyone attending could let us know by using the Send Us Your News icon on the BB home page at boatingbusiness.com
