  • METS 2008 sells out

    METS: According to organiser Amsterdam RAI, METS 2008 is fully booked already. The RAI adds the SuperYacht Pavilion is following hard on the heels of the main show and is already 70% sold out. 

  • IWA picks Parliamentarian Of The Year

    INLAND WATERWAYS: The Inland Waterways Association (IWA) presented its inaugural Parliamentarian of the Year award to Charlotte Atkins, MP for Staffordshire Moorlands. The award was made at a dinner at the House of Commons hosted by Bob Laxton MP and attended by many leading waterway figures including the waterways minister, Jonathan Shaw MP. 

  • Navico combines Navman with Explorer series

    DISTRIBUTION: Navico says it is to amalgamate its Navman marine product line primarily into the Northstar Explorer Series in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The transition will, says Navico, enhance the line and provide boaters with an expanded range of Northstar electronics. 

  • BMF Central networking event for marine companies

    NETWORKING: The British Marine Federation (BMF) Central Region is to run a networking event for all marine industry companies on Wednesday April 30. 

  • French troops free Superyacht hostages

    HOSTAGES: The 32 hostages held by pirates on the 288ft superyacht Le Ponant off the coast of Somalia have been released by French troops in a military operation that ended with a French helicopter gunship shooting up the pirates' car. 

  • NBS Roadshows tell all

    ROADSHOWS: After last year's successful series of roadshows around the country to tell boat show exhibitors and British Marine Federation (BMF) members the plans for the future, National Boat Shows (NBS) is running another series this year. 

  • RKJ heads Radio Solent boating programme

    RADIO: Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is heading up the new Radio Solent H2O show that will be broadcast every Friday night from 19.00 to 20.00. Working alongside RKJ will be powerboat champion Shelley Jory, bringing listeners special reports from around the region.

    CLOSURE: Avon inflatables, owned by Zodiac Marine & Pool (ZMP), announced last Tuesday 15 April that its Llanelli manufacturing plant is to close with the loss of 57 jobs.
