CCC adds day passage races

SCOTLAND: The Bell Lawrie Scottish Series (23-26 May), West Highland Yachting Week (1-8 Aug), and Largs Regatta Week (23-31 Aug), are the main events in the Clyde and west coast cruiser racing calendar, writes Mike Balmforth.

The Clyde Cruising Club's BLSS has introduced some day passage races to appeal to the less dedicated racers in the CYCA (local handicap) classes.

The Diamond Jubilee West Highland Week has also made changes. There will be IRC racing for Class 1, a new course for Restricted Sail classes at Tobermory, and two races for spinnaker classes on both Monday and Thursday, all to count for the Points Series.

Tennents are sponsoring the event for the 28th year, which must be some kind of record. Largs Regatta Week offers a wide variety of courses: round the buoys, round the islands, the Scottish 2-handed race, and midweek evening racing: the sponsor for the second year is Clydeport.
