Boss gets a £20m US order
Craig Craft of Peterborough landed an order for 2,500 of their Boss jet boats that were launched at the Miami Boat Show in February.
The Boss was then a new concept in small fun boats that gave the impression of sports car handling and a speed of 50 miles an hour. Where is it now, we wonder?
Heseltine for B-MEC
Michael Heseltine, president of the Board of Trade (as he called the Department of Trade and Industry) was to be the speaker at the Boating 2000 conference at B-MEC 95 in October.
Neil Mackley joined Diamond Sailmakers in Hamble from North Sails, joining Bob Lankester, David Williams, Russell Pickthall and Nigel Young. Where are they all now, we wonder? The German BMS Sailing Wear operation set up a UK Branch and asked Stephen Watterson to run it. Tamzin London joined Blakes Marine Paints as sales manager for the West Country. Verity Woodward joined the Cetrek sales team to deal with UK boatbuilders. Ian Thomson took responsibility for exhibition press relations at Nauticalia. Peta Stuart-Hunt was appointed to handle press and PR work for Raytheon Marine Europe. Mike Jackson joined Jardine Insurance Services as new business manager after spending 11 years with Nav&Gen. The Island Cruising Club appointed Jeremy Ford as marketing manager.
