Portsmouth Poll - April 2011

14 Apr 2011

Poll-600

Poll-01-NEC-300

The picture of Andrew Barton, Harry Arnold and Bill Saner that appears on page 18 of this issue makes the three look like fine upstanding gentlemen of this industry.
However, the shot following the soberly raised glasses made Poll wonder who said - or did – what to produce such a transformation

Poll read a story recently about Cargill Ocean Transportation signing a deal to launch the world's largest ever Poll02-Sail-250kite-propelled vessel.
Apparently, the Hamburg-based company SkySails claims its technology can reduce fuel consumption by up to 35% in ideal sailing conditions.
Poll wonders if the First Officer is on the bridge wing screaming: ‘Get that sheet in – you’re losing it; come on - sheet! Sheet!

Poll understands Playboy launched a new porn service last month. The new 3D service will, she suspects, give abnormally pneumatic ladies even greater exposure…

Poll03-Panties-150

British Waterways was mystified to find a number of “danger to fishermen” oak notice posts had been being uprooted and stolen from the Coventry Canal.
This story reminded one of Poll’s local informants of seeing one of these posts at Glascote Locks in Tamworth on the Coventry Canal, rather satisfyingly adorned.
Poll’s informant wondered if this was a strange Tamworth male (or maybe female…) ritual to indicate they had scored on the towpath, or just a handy place for ladies to leave their maybe temporarily discarded undergarments?
And, as these posts are being stolen, do they wish to perform this ritual – or keep the score and mount the trophy (in a manner of speaking) – in the privacy of their own gardens?
