My first job… School and university holidays brought mixed employment fortunes. Meat packing wasn’t for me, nor was the pig farm or even being the grounds man at the local high school. I finally lucked out driving an ice-cream van round the North Wales coast - perfect!

How I got into this industry… After getting seriously bored of ice-cream, I was introduced to Simon Relph of Mailspeed Marine ,which meant the rest of my student life was spent slogging it out on the Mailspeed stand at boat shows..the rest is history.

The best (or worst?) advice I've ever received… The best is “Turnover’s vanity, profit is sanity, cash is reality.” The worst was that if you sleep in a hammock with your feet higher than your head you’ll wet yourself. I spent all night awake worrying about that....

You should really visit… The restaurant at The Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Get a table outside and spend the evening watching the dancing fountains across the street at the Bellagio...fantastic!

One thing that’s dear to my heart is… Teaching Isaac, our 9 month old son, how to swim. It’s the perfect preparation for his life long duty as my crew.

I’m a secret follower of… The “Best of YouTube” podcast on iTunes.

My most over-used saying or phrase is… “Good work!” usually followed by, “but could you just...”

Favourite activity away from work… Any one-design racing abroad. Fly in, fly out, four days, three races per day, big breeze, sailing in shorts and T-shirt, lazy mornings and long nights – love it!

How I cope with stress… Guinness.

My advice to Portsmouth Poll is… Stop being so PC and tell us what you really think!
