Helping business start, grow and prosper

09 Dec 2011

This is the strap line for the new online Business Link site launched as part of Global Entrepreneurship week.

The site businesslink.gov.uk will provide comprehensive information and materials aimed at those looking to start or grow an existing business plus information on publically funded business support services through “Solutions for Business”.

This highlights the streamlined government offering of 13 products of support ranging from Finance for business, coaching to work place training and Apprenticeships.

The British Banking Association forum event at the PSP Southampton Boat Show was a key component of an ongoing campaign by the BMF to raise the profile of the industry and also formed part of the BBA’s Better Business Finance initiative.

Coaching can be a cost effective way to access expertise to help develop a growth strategy and resulting action plan for your business using coaches who have expertise from a number of different sectors. The service is being relaunched in January 2012 and will be free for some business and part funded for others.

Other industry sectors have found that supply chain development and closer collaboration between the various businesses involved can improve profitability and commercial relationships.

The BMF held a successful supply chain seminar on 19 September during the PSP Southampton Boat Show to explore what might be done for the marine manufacturing sector.

They agreed that a two day supply chain event should be planned, along the lines of Meet the Buyer, with opportunities for informal meetings and as a forum to highlight the needs of boatbuilders large and small. And the capabilities and needs of suppliers of all sizes in a convivial environment.

The aim will be to encourage closer collaboration within the industry and identify other positive actions including engaging with relevant business and technical support.
