Bainbridge Marine

Bainbridge Marine has had several new developments. Firstly, it is adding the full range of Quick products to its 2010 portfolio. This includes windlass, water heaters, electrical equipment and lighting. The company will also be representing Hubbell’s full range of electrical accessories, and will promote the Perko range of marine lighting, hardware and deck fittings. Again on the electrical side, the new Cable Captain is designed to extend and reel in cables from 16 – 63 Amp at the flick of a switch.

Bainbridge also now has Dax OneTouch winch handles which feature a high operating arc and wide grab bar, while the new D-Type self launching anchor will compliment existing claw and grapnel anchor ranges.

The company has also a new range of Storm hatches. The design has been carefully developed to offer a cost effective, fully certified hatch system suitable for both new build and ‘drop in’ aftermarket replacement.

The popular range of performance dinghy products from RWO will now be available from Bainbridge Marine. Products include blocks, rudders, tillers and a full inventory of deck hardware.

C-Quip

C-Quip has again increased its range of stainless steel hardware and fittings and added a brand new range of LED underwater lighting (at what the company believes to be the most competitive prices to be found anywhere). All work from 9V to 28V DC and come as single LED (5 watt units), or 4,6 or 12 LED (3 watt varieties) and come in both through-hull and surface mount versions.

If you want power economy, the company also has a flush mount unit made of reinforced plastic and aluminium with a single 10W LED that draws only 1 Amp at 12V and 0.5 Amp at 24V.

In addition to underwater lighting, C-Quip is greatly increasing its range of SS Courtesy lighting. It now has a mini 10mm unit, a 40mm unit with a directional hood option plus various flush and surface mount options.

It is also launching a range of new boarding ladders and Sea Stairs in the new year. These range from a 4-Step to a 10-Step unit designed for boats from 40ft to 150ft.

Finally, C-Quip will be launching a new stainless steel, encapsulated windlass, anchor and bow-roller range that are all designed to work together and incorporate various new design features such as an integrated anchor swivel.

Dometic Marine

Dometic Marine is launching the SmartStart control for 2010. Available for OEM and retrofit on Dometic Marine Cruisair and Marine Air systems, this new, easily installed single-phase compressor startup control reduces the initial current surge by up to 65%. The current spike that can occur whenever an air conditioning system cycles on, can cause flickering lights, tripped circuit breakers and the generator output voltage to reduce or even shut down.

Over time, multiple failed startup attempts can cause damage to the compressor. Dometic also has the new 8100 Macerating Toilet. Available in 12V DC or 24V DC operating versions, the 8100 Series is available in standard and low-profile height models to meet a broad range of customer requirements. Additionally, the 8100 Toilet features innovative water regulating technology.

At the other end of the business, the versatile 8100 Macerating Toilet is powered by MasterFlush technology and operated by a three-function switch. Utilising the switch enables the user to add water to the toilet bowl, flush in a normal manner or use a ‘dry-bowl’ function, to conserve water as well as eliminate the potential of contaminated water spilling into the head compartment during turbulent conditions. Further, users are able to regulate water consumption depending on how long the flush switch is pressed.

The ceramic bodied unit, despite having a full-size seat, is compact and has been designed for easy installation including against the hull wall, with both through-the-floor and through-the-wall discharge options.

Dometic Marine will introduce new models to its VacuFlush and MasterFlush range during 2010, which will be available with a variety of new features including straight-back toilets, ‘slow-close’ action seats and low water and electric consumption technology.

Lastly, the Dometic Marine Breathe Easy air purifier uses innovative photocatalytic nano-mesh and ultraviolet (UV) light to provide an easy, cost-effective solution to unpleasant odours and airborne biological contaminants such as mould spores, bacteria, pollen, viruses, and fumes.

The Breathe Easy series includes three innovative models: a portable free-standing model with internal fan and two in-line ductable models that use the air-conditioning system’s blower to move contaminated air through.

EC Smith

EC Smith supplies an extensive range of supplies and equipment. This runs from windlasses and anchors, anodes, battery management and electrical equipment (including lights, switch panels and cookers), to water& bilge pumps and calorifiers, plus everything in between, including deck fittings, and hardware. The company has recently added a range of automatic fire extinguishers that have between a 13b and 34b fire rating. Fischer Panda UK

Following the success of the Panda variable-speed, inverter-based generators, (the 4kW 4000i and the 6kW 6000i), a 10kW Panda 12000i was launched at METS 2009. This super-small, super-quiet, super-light generator merited a special mention in the prestigious DAME awards. Fischer Panda variable-speed inverter generators closely match their output with the electrical load by varying the generator engine speed. This means that for the majority of end-user load profiles, exhaust emissions and fuel consumption are considerably lower than an equivalent traditional fixed speed generator.

Additional benefits include a pure sine-wave output with exceptional voltage and frequency stability, lower average sound output and best in class dimensions and weight – the 52db(A) Panda 6kW 6000i is 550mm x 440mm x 530mm and weighs only 111kg.

Another new product is the re-launched Panda 4 Farymann engine based 4kW genset. This has several new design enhancements including super powerful motor-starting capability, clean sine-wave output, simpler installation and reduced maintenance. The sets will be available with direct sea-water and indirect (heat exchanger) cooling.

New watermaking technology from HRO/Sea Recovery includes a Seafari Flexible version which gives a 250mm length saving on existing models and allows for vertical installation of the membrane vessels. A NMEA 2000 interface is now standard on all Sea Recovery Aquamatic and Aqua Whisper models. A new Danfoss water lubricated, radial-axial high pressure pump gives 8000 hours operation without maintenance – this is an option on all 230VAC powered watermakers from HRO and Sea Recovery.

Index (Marine Equipment) Ltd

Marine & Industrial LLP

Marine & Industrial is the nationwide distributor of brand name adhesive, sealant coatings and consumable products from manufacturers West System, Sika, ITW Plexus, Seajet, 3M, Arbo, with more developments expected for next year. New for the 2010 season are the revolutionary new epoxies from West System products – the G/flex 650 and 655 and Six10 adhesive.

G/flex650 is a toughened liquid epoxy which will bond most dissimilar materials: however, one important advantage over the standard types is that it is more flexible. G/flex 655 is a thickened version of the 650 which will form a structural bond on a range of materials - including plastics such as HDPE, ABS, PVC, polyethylene, polycarbonate, etc. This means it can be used in the repair of dinghies, canoes and kayaks.

Supplied in a cartridge for easy mixing/measuring, the Six10 thickened epoxy can be dispensed using a standard caulking gun and is a permanent, waterproof, gap filling, marine grade adhesive.

Marine & Industrial is now also a 3M Thinsulate distributor for the UK, and offers a full stock service to all sectors of the marine market.

This product is an acoustic insulation that decreases noise and improves thermal efficiency with minimal additional weight, suitable for all vessels from narrowboats and barges to luxury yachts. It gives superior thermal and acoustic insulating performance, it is hydrophobic - does not support mould or mildew growth - and has less chance of developing odours. Thinsulate is also extremely lightweight and easy to install.

Seajet Paints continues its market share growth with the launch of Seajet Basic self polishing antifoul which is sold in a 3.5ltr can and is aimed at the ‘cost effective’ part of the market which wants a good performing product at a reasonable price .

Marine Mart

Marine Mart focus mainly on fit out equipment for inland waterway vessels including narrow-boats, wide beam steel boats, Dutch style barges and cruisers. Working alongside Arleigh International, Marine Mart can offer over 6,000 product lines, with many new products and spares being introduced weekly. Point Distribution

Point Distribution Ltd has added several new products to its range in the last twelve months. These include a range of capacitive tank senders available in fuel, white and black-water versions and supporting both US and European resistance standards. SM Group

As usual, SMG has many new additions to its catalogue since the company acts as distributors for Garmin, Raymarine, Icom, GME, Comar, Navpod and M-Tech as well as others. Tides Marine International

Tides Marine International is the main European importer and distributor for US manufacturer Tides Marine’s dripless propeller shaft seals and rudder bearings along with a simple effective mainsail handling system. Shaft seals and rudder bearings carry Lloyds Register Type Approval certification and are suitable for both new build and aftermarket applications. Tides Marine Sailtrack is a one-piece track that can be fitted from the deck and gives easy raising and lowering of a fully battened mainsail.

The company also provides underwater lighting from Australian company Aqualuma, which combine the latest LED technology with tough polymer housings. US-based Armstrong Nautical Products offers outboard brackets suitable for large outboard motors along with stainless steel boarding ladders. Unipart Marine

Unipart has seen several developments. The Wetline range has been recently expanded into safety products from its base in inflatable dinghies and accessories. Wetline Lifejackets come in both manual and automatic versions, have a standard crotch strap and a full harness option. There are also two new ranges of Wetline Life Rafts with differing leisure and ISO specs, depending on requirements. The 4, 6 or 8 person models are available in valise or canister style cases and offered with a range of cradles to ensure safe location of the raft on deck. Wetline first-aid kits and fire blankets are also new.

Vetus

Vetus has launched a new version of its windscreen wiper motors which allow the wiping angle to be adjusted to eight different settings. This means that the ideal wiping pattern can be found for almost any shape and size of window. It is available with a tapered and knurled shaft end, according to DIN 72873. This feature provides a stronger connection between the wiper arm and the motor drive shaft, resulting in a longer life span for both parts.

Vetus has also recently launched two new ranges of deck and ventilation hatches. Available in seven different sizes (interchangeable with most common models on the market), the Magnus range has been made heavy duty especially for ocean use, with friction hinges that will keep the hatch open in any position. The Altus hatches come with twist grip hatch adjusters, and are available in 11 different sizes and shapes.

The company also has a new range of stylish cowl ventilators in both synthetic and polished stainless steel finishes, for deck apertures of 75, 100 or 125 mm, together with matching dorade boxes.

A new model of anti-siphon engine vent which can rotate through 360° has also been added to the range, along with other products like diesel fuel filters and splash stops.
