Distributor’s Update 2011 - Golden Arrow Marine
One of the biggest pieces of news from Golden Arrow Marine has been its appointment as the Moteurs Baudouin distributor for UK and Eire as of 1 December 2011. This give the company an opening into new markets.
Golden Arrow has been associated with delivering a high level of engineering sales, service and support to the marine industry since 1935 and represents a number of good quality manufacturers for engines, gearboxes, generators, thrusters, stabilisers and windlasses. The customer base ranges from major UK leisure boatbuilders, MOD, defence contractors and port authorities to individual owners and operators.
Based in Southampton the company offers international parts support, sales and service for all its products. Workshops are highly equipped, and can carry out full overhauls of engines and gearboxes including in house dynamometer testing up to 2,000hp. All engineers are factory trained and fully mobile within the UK and overseas. The company is ISO90001:2008 certified by DNV and all aspects from goods-in to final testing and dispatch are monitored and recorded.
“We are very excited by the prospects that Baudouin brings to the company. Over the last few years we have seen a shift in our customer base towards commercial marine and have been seeking an engine manufacturer to assist in developing this side of our business," said Martin Bizzell, general manager. "Baudouin’s history and pedigree is without question and now that they are part of the huge Weichai Power company providing resources for development of future engines they are the perfect partner for us."
Their heavy duty engines take us into market sectors that we have not historically been involved in and the opportunity to work with fishing, tug and ferry operators and builders is exciting, he added. "We are proud of our reputation for delivering excellent customer service and will be appointing strategically placed Baudouin approved agents who can deliver equal service at a local level.”
Moteurs Baudouin, current engine range includes inline 6 cylinder, V8 and V12 propulsion engines from 93kW to 808kW which can be combined with the company's own range of heavy duty marine gearboxes. Also available are complete shaft and propeller systems of fixed or controllable pitch. In addition to propulsion engines and drive line there is a range of auxiliary and standby generator sets using their 4, 6, 8 and 12 cylinder engines from 68kWe to740kWe.
