Point Distribution has recently launched not just one but two new NMEA products.

Red Line Instruments (the house brand of Point Distribution) has a new fluxgate compass that takes into account local magnetic field disturbance errors.

The FG1-045 NMEA model is a precision device indicating RADAR ‘North-up’ input or autopilot. Heading data is delivered in two industry-standard forms: NMEA 0183 and Furuno AD-10.

Users can alter the frequency the NMEA data is delivered at, the degree of filtering of the reading and setting offset values.

Further, the FG1-045 is compact, waterproof and has a tilt capability of ±45° from the horizontal plane.

Designed for marine applications, Point Distribution can also now fit pickup coils to a gimbaled magnetic compass that will sense a magnetic field and generate a NMEA0183 $HCHDG sentence. The pickup resolves changes in magnetic direction to an accuracy of 0.1°. The sensor can operate from both 12V and 24V systems.
