A little nudge to conserve water
The Waterpebble is a discreet addition to the shower tray
For those that are conservation minded or simply need to keep an eye on supplies, there’s a new product that helps raise awareness of water useage in the shower.
Waterpebble, available from Aslotel, is an ingenious 52mm device which fits neatly in the shower tray, attached to the drain away by a fine blue plastic filament. It is pre-set to 3 minutes and 50 seconds although settings can be ordered according to individual requirements should a shorter shower time is needed.
It works via four external sensors that become active once the water flows: this sets off an LED traffic light system to indicate that timing has begun. The lights change just like traffic lights – green as the water starts to flow, amber when the shower time is coming to an end and red to suggest that it is time to get out of the shower (it is worth bearing in mind that it can take approximately 100 litres of water for a five minute douse).
It’s a discreet way of nudging guests and crew, (or adolescents) who are perhaps not so aware as the owners who, after all, have to provide it: Waterpebble will draw their attention to the amount of water they are using and will help owners to regulate their water supplies.
