For the best selection of Christmas gifts, simply get hold of the Nauticalia catalogue. It's packed with just the kind of things no stocking - or pillow case - should be without. And there are things for young and old alike.

One of the key issues dealt with by the law in this area concerns the rights of consumers where they are dissatisfied with the state of the product they have bought.

This canoe kit is one of those things few men could resist. It's a strip-plank model canoe that's constructed in the same way the full-sized boat is made, except for scale and time. The builder starts by assembling the temporary formers on a strong-back. Then the narrow strip planks go on, followed by covering the hull in glass cloth and fairing it off.

The finished result is a 1:12 scale, 16" model of a classic Peterborough canoe, similar to those that were shipped to England from Canada over 100 years ago.

The wood epoxy canoe kit retails at £95.00.
